About this coffee

Rugali, Nyamasheke District, Rwanda - EA Decaf

Altitude: 1450 - 1600 MASL

Rugali has become an impactful example of a successful washing station for the specialty coffee market. It is a station that has in just a few years produced coffees that have been used in competitions worldwide and put the Nyamasheke District on the map for high-quality processed Rwandan coffees.

Decaffeinated in the traditional EA manner, retaining sweetness and body with no compromise on flavour.

An easy-going moreish cup, giving vibes of honey butter and sultana biscuits.

Producer

Muraho Trading Company (MTCo.) is the brainchild of two brothers who grew up with a deep connection to Rwanda, driven to showcase the true essence of Rwandan specialty coffee and the vibrant spirit of its people. Their vision goes beyond exceptional coffee it’s about sharing the resilience and hope of a nation that has transformed its tragic past into a story of renewal and progress. At stations like Rugali an inspiring model of innovation since its inception in 2016 coffee cherries are handled with utmost care. Each step, from meticulous hand-sorting and natural fermentation to the precise, sun-dried finish, enhances the coffee's inherent sweetness and body. The result is a moreish cup that not only reflects the artisanal passion behind every batch but also carries the enduring spirit of Rwanda with every sip.

Perfectly Roasted

We practice omni roasting—a philosophy kind of like finding each coffee bean's one true love in roast form!

This means every bean gets its perfect roasting match to highlight its unique quirks and flavours. Naturally decaffeinated beans, after their caffeine-free makeover, can be a bit sensitive and prone to over-roasting, so we steer clear of going too dark to keep their delightful tastes intact.

Why Decaf?

Gentler on the stomach, better sleep, suitable for pregnant woman, loaded with anti-oxidants and let's be honest, all the great coffee taste with no caffeine crash.

So Why Craft Decaf?

  • Decaffeinated naturally at source which is more sustainable as less miles are travelled
  • We focus solely on decaf and we won't send a bean we haven't tried - your personal decaf experts
  • Direct farmer relationships ensuring your money ends up with our suppliers and not middle-men

Nice classic flavour

Arrived quickly and well packaged. The coffee is really nice drunk both as espresso and longer drinks. As per usual with craft decaf, I wouldn’t know it’s not caffeinated. My friends and family all like it too. An all round winner!

Thanks for leaving the review Alastair ☕️

Absolutely delicious!

I'm new to decaf and was worried that the flavour of coffee without caffeine would be rubbish, but it really isn't. This is a great coffee, it tastes delicious, it's so much better than other brands I've tried. I'd wholeheartedly recommend.
