Introducing our very first Half Caf coffee The Contortionist!

Unlike most Half Cafs, ours is a single origin from the Popayán region of Colombia. Meseta de Popayán is perfectly suited to growing speciality coffee. Its prime position in the Andean mountain range provides top-notch climatic consistency, helping coffee cherries thrive.

A 50/50 split of decaf and washed caf, it’s a brew that offers the best of both worlds. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a balanced morning cup, or need an afternoon pick-me-up that won’t keep you up all night, The Contortionist delivers.

Half of the beans have undergone the environmentally-friendly Sugarcane E.A. decaffeination process, while the remaining half embarked on a journey through the washing mill.

What is half caf coffee?

If you’re new to half caf, you’re in for a treat. It's a blend of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee beans, typically roasted with a 50/50 ratio.

Producer

Our import partners, Cofinet, have worked hard to build long term relationships with a group of approximately 65 farmers in the Popayán reserve in the department of Cauca. As a result of these partnerships, producers in the region have been able to come together and improve their coffee production Together, these farmers are growing Colombian single origin coffees that are truly worthy of recognition for their high quality and consistently great taste.

Perfectly Roasted

We practice omni roasting—a philosophy kind of like finding each coffee bean's one true love in roast form!

This means every bean gets its perfect roasting match to highlight its unique quirks and flavours. Naturally decaffeinated beans, after their caffeine-free makeover, can be a bit sensitive and prone to over-roasting, so we steer clear of going too dark to keep their delightful tastes intact.

Super second daily cup

I love this as my second (third, forth?) coffee of the day (after my wake-up espresso). Works best, for me, as a pour-over. Lots of flavour and very enjoyable.

Great coffee & a great team.

As half cafs are becoming more popular, Craftdecaf's is definitely my favourite. I make espresso with the The Contortionist every morning. Only drinking half the caffeine means I can have twice as much! Ken and the rest of the team are great, friendly and really helpful. They have answered many of my questions and always quick to reply.

I have also taken part in the James Hoffmann Decaf cupping session and it was great that Craftdecaf were a roaster you could use and the coffee they roasted was great.
